THE GNK FOUNDATION DONATION RECORD: MORE THAN QUARTER OF A MILLION DOLLARS FOR YOUNGCARE AUSTRALIA

The George Naim Khattar Foundation announced that it is donating $260,199.24 to Youngcare to change the lives of young Australians with high care needs following the success of the GNK’s Welcome Home Gala this year. A fund-raising record for the charity inspired by the late George Khattar, Sydney property developer and philanthropist.

“In one night, the GNK family raised over a quarter of a million dollars and purchased life-saving equipment such as cough assistance machines. The Board is humbled by the generosity of our members.” stated GNK Foundation President Fayad Fayad.

“Youngcare ambassador and grant recipient Todd Winther touched the hearts of every guest when he told them of the trials of daily life for someone with high care needs – things we take for granted. We are honoured support Youngcare’s High Care Grants Programme” Mr Fayad noted.

KARL STEFANOVIC and SYLVIA JEFFREYS, both passionate ambassadors for Young Care, hosted the GNK Foundation’s charity gala held at Le Montage on Saturday 30th June, 2018.  Karl and Sylvia were joined by Natalie Barr, Michael Usher, Tim Blackwell, Winx’s trainer Chris Waller and a host of celebrities who donated their time for this worthy cause.

Each year the Board of the George Naim Khattar Foundation select a charity or community project that will change lives with the injection of much needed funds raised at the gala.  Since its inception in 2011, the GNK Foundation has raised $1,549,544.19 for worthy projects.

A glittering black-tie event, the GNK Foundation Gala is renowned for bringing together Sydney’s business and community leaders who pay tribute to the humanitarian spirit of George Naim Khattar, former director of Dyldam. The 2018 Gala was proudly sponsored by event partner BETTA Home Living, foundation partner Arab Bank Australia and foundation sponsors Nader Jewellers, Dyldam and James Estate Wines.

The WELCOME HOME Gala included an intimate performance by Ricki-Lee Coulter and a heart-warming first-hand account of the life-changing power of living with independence and dignity by a Youngcare grant recipient and advocate for the cause.  The raffle of a $50,000 single diamond from Nader Jewellers, a live and silent auction, and three course gourmet dinner with beverages will complete the evening.

“This year’s Gala set a new fundraising record for the GNK Foundation. We look forward to breaking that record at the next Gala “concluded GNK President Mr Fayad.

WELCOME HOME GALA 2018 – MEDIA RELEASE

KARL STEFANOVIC and SYLVIA JEFFREYS will host the George Naim Khattar Foundation’s charity gala to be held at Le Montage on Saturday 30th June, 2018.  Australia’s favourite TV presenters are generously supporting the GNK Foundation to help raise funds for their favourite charity, Youngcare, for whom they are both passionate Ambassadors.

Each year the Board of the George Naim Khattar Foundation select a charity or community project that will change lives with the injection of much needed funds. Last year’s event featuring a performance by Jessica Mauboy was a sell-out success and raised over $203,000.

In 2018, the GNK Foundation will proudly support Youngcare’s High Care Grants Programme.

Youngcare recognises that too many young Australians with high care needs are being left behind; living in institutionalized housing like aged care and hospital rooms.  It is an issue that spans the corners of the country and yet is so close to home. 28,000 young people are seeking a suitable place to call “home”.

The GNK Foundation aims to raise vital funds for Youngcare’s High Care Grants programme to assist in providing suitable housing and grants to ensure all young people with high care needs can remain at home with their loved ones or transition into their very own home.

“Karl and I are thrilled to be leading the 7th Annual GNK Foundation Gala Dinner on the 30th June 2018 in Sydney.  It’s set to be a fantastic evening, with entertainment from Ricki-Lee Coulter.  All proceeds of this event will benefit Youngcare, a charity very close to both our hearts, fighting for choice, independence and dignity for young people with high care needs across Australia.” – Sylvia Jeffreys, Channel 9 TODAY Show Presenter and National Youngcare Ambassador.

A Message from Make-A-Wish® Australia’s CEO

“A heartfelt thank you to our friends at the George Naim Khattar Foundation, and everyone who supported this year’s Grant A Wish Gala. I was thrilled to welcome so many new people into our Wish Force, and to see the overwhelming support for wish child Domenic – who’s better known as Iron Boy. As Domenic shared, a Make-A-Wish wish can have a truly profound impact on the lives of children facing serious illness.

Many more life-changing wishes will now come true for really sick kids and teenagers, at a time when they need it most – all thanks to the outstanding fundraising throughout the Gala event.

Thank you again to everyone who came along to the Grant A Wish Gala for being part of a truly impactful evening, and to everyone at the George Naim Khattar Foundation for your amazing support.”
